Gear

Our guides are trained to set up your equipment with backing, fly line and leaders. You can buy the flies you need from local shops. We recommend that you bring a 9 to 10-foot graphic fly rod and a matched reel with a 3.5-inch diameter. Our big fish like to run, so you’ll need 100 yards of backing line in addition to your #8 or #9 floating, weight-forward line. Chest waders are essential and we recommend breathable, waders, with wading boots and felt bottoms for your comfort and stability. A wading staff is also a good idea.

Seasons

Atlantic salmon fishing on the Miramichi begins as soon as the ice leaves the river. During the spring season (April 15 to May 15), you will fish from motor boats with one guide and one guest per boat. Spring salmon that have spent the winter under the ice are eager to

take flies; this is exciting fishing with lots of action. The spectacular summer and fall fishing season (mid-June to October 15) begins when bright, silver salmon, fresh from the ocean, begin to arrive in our pools. We will transport you by canoe or motor boat to the pools, where you will wade or fish from the shore. Visit Tuckaway Cabins and experience the magic of fly fishing for the greatest game fish in the world - Atlantic salmon on the mighty Miramichi River.
